Federal Judge Temporarily Blocks Firing of 11 Intelligence Officers

A federal judge has issued an administrative stay, temporarily blocking the dismissal of 11 nonpartisan intelligence officers assigned to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA) programs. The officers were part of a broader group of 51 employees at the CIA and other intelligence agencies who were recently ordered to resign or face termination.

The judge’s ruling halts the firings until at least Thursday, allowing the Trump administration time to file its response to the officers’ request for a temporary restraining order. The intelligence officers argue their work is crucial to maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce within the intelligence community and that their sudden dismissal undermines nonpartisan efforts to improve access and equity.

While the administration has yet to publicly comment on the judge’s decision, the case raises concerns over political influence in nonpartisan intelligence operations and the potential rollback of diversity initiatives across federal agencies.

The court’s decision on Thursday could determine whether the officers retain their positions or face imminent termination.
