Desert Healthcare District Secures $197K Grant for COVID-19 Mitigation in Coachella Valley

The Desert Healthcare District and Foundation has been awarded a $197,000 grant from United Way to bolster COVID-19 mitigation efforts across the Coachella Valley. The funding aims to enhance testing, prevention, and community education, with a special focus on supporting underserved populations in the region.

The grant will provide resources such as home COVID-19 test kits, mobile testing sites, and personal protective equipment (PPE) distribution. Additionally, the funds will support educational outreach initiatives designed to raise awareness about prevention strategies and available health resources.

“This funding ensures that vulnerable communities in the Coachella Valley have access to vital health services and information,” said officials from the Desert Healthcare District. “Our goal is to promote safety and well-being for everyone in the region.”

Efforts are already underway to distribute supplies and expand outreach, aiming to reduce COVID-19 transmission and improve public health outcomes throughout the valley.
