Free Health Care Clinic in Indio Seeks Volunteers, Especially Optometrists

A free health care clinic is coming to Indio next week, but organizers say they urgently need volunteers—particularly optometrists—to make it a success. The California Care Force will host the event at the Empire Polo Grounds from February 28 to March 2, providing free medical, dental, and vision services to anyone willing to wait in line.

The annual clinic, strategically timed before festival season, aims to assist residents struggling with inadequate or no insurance. “We still estimate about a third of Americans are underinsured or lack good coverage,” said a clinic representative. “Events like this help fill those gaps.”

While many local medical professionals, dentists, and physicians have already signed up, the vision department remains short-staffed. Without more optometrist volunteers, the clinic may not be able to offer crucial vision services.

For those interested in volunteering, information and registration are available at CaliforniaCareForce.org. Dental appointments can be scheduled early for February 27, while all other services will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

With an estimated 1,500 patients expected, organizers recommend arriving early to avoid long wait times. “Yes, the lines can be long, but the care provided is well worth it,” officials emphasized.

This clinic embodies a simple yet powerful mission: to take care of anyone in need, no questions asked.
