Plaza Theatre in Palm Springs Set to Reopen December 1 with Star-Studded Lineup

Many residents have been eagerly awaiting the reopening of the historic Plaza Theatre in downtown Palm Springs. J.R. Roberts, president of the Palm Springs Plaza Theater Foundation, announced that the theater is officially set to reopen on December 1. While the opening night performer remains a surprise, the following nights, December 2 and 3, will feature performances from renowned entertainers Lily Tomlin and Jane Lynch.

"We've only been selling tickets for two days, and we’re already selling out," Roberts shared, underscoring the community's enthusiasm. Despite the excitement, the foundation is still working to secure an additional $8 million. Roberts noted that even if the funds aren’t raised in time, the theater will open as scheduled, with the city fronting the shortfall.

Beyond providing entertainment, the Plaza Theatre’s reopening is expected to generate a $40 million annual economic impact for surrounding businesses. "Arts and culture are vital to Palm Springs," Roberts emphasized, highlighting the significance of revitalizing this historic venue.
