Free Art Workshops Inspire Coachella Valley Kids with David Hockney's Colorful World
A series of free art workshops kicked off today at the Old Town Artisan Studios, offering children across the Coachella Valley the opportunity to explore the work of renowned British artist David Hockney. The workshops, open to kids of all ages, provide an immersive, step-by-step experience, guiding participants to create their own masterpieces inspired by Hockney’s distinctive use of bright colors and unique perspectives. The event is part of the museum’s collaboration with the Palm Springs Art Museum's “David Hockney Perspective Should Be Reversed” exhibit, which features nearly 200 of his iconic works.
Hockney’s art is particularly appealing to children due to its vivid, colorful nature, which has captivated audiences worldwide. Known for his photography, collages, and digital art made on iPhones and iPads, Hockney’s work invites exploration and creativity. The workshops aim to help children connect with his art and foster their own artistic expression.
The next workshop will be held on Sunday, March 2nd, at the Gardens on El Paseo in Palm Desert from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. To sign up for these engaging and fun art sessions, interested participants can visit the “Hockney + You” page on Palm Springs Life. This initiative offers young artists a unique opportunity to learn from one of the most influential artists of our time while enjoying a hands-on, creative experience.
