Starbucks to Lay Off Over 1,000 Corporate Employees Amid Sales Decline
Starbucks announced today it will lay off more than 1,000 corporate employees as part of a broader restructuring effort. In addition to the layoffs, several hundred open corporate positions will go unfilled. The cuts will not affect workers at Starbucks’ cafes.
In a message to corporate staff, Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol said the company is “simplifying our structure, removing layers and duplication, and creating smaller, more nimble teams.” The restructuring comes as the coffee giant works to attract customers back to its stores following four consecutive quarters of declining sales, with many customers turning to more affordable alternatives.
Despite the challenges, Starbucks remains focused on improving customer experiences and revamping its corporate strategy to better compete in a shifting market.
