Trump Names Dan Bongino as FBI Deputy Director

President Donald Trump announced Sunday night on Truth Social that he has selected Dan Bongino as the next FBI deputy director. Bongino, a former U.S. Secret Service agent, is known for his work as a political commentator and has previously run for U.S. Senate and congressional seats in Maryland and Florida, though unsuccessfully.

The announcement comes just days after Kash Patel was sworn in as the new FBI director. Trump’s choice of Bongino signals a continued effort to reshape the leadership of the bureau. Bongino has been a vocal supporter of Trump and has often criticized the FBI’s past leadership.

Details about when Bongino will be officially sworn in have not yet been released.
