Animal Advocates March on El Paseo, Demand Changes at County Shelters
A group of animal advocates took to the streets of El Paseo in Palm Desert this morning, demanding that Riverside County supervisors put an end to the euthanization of adoptable animals at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus.
The peaceful protest began at 10:30 AM at the corner of Portola Avenue and El Paseo, drawing concerned residents holding signs and calling for more humane practices in local shelters.
“Stop the killing of all the animals,” one protester pleaded. “We need to be the voice for these animals.”
Advocates say they plan to continue protesting until they see meaningful changes implemented at the county-operated shelter. Their demands include increasing adoption efforts, improving shelter conditions, and seeking alternatives to euthanasia for healthy and adoptable pets.
