Need Security? New App Lets You Order an Armed Guard On-Demand
In a world where nearly everything is available at the tap of a smartphone, it was only a matter of time before on-demand personal security joined the list. Enter Protector, a new app providing users in Los Angeles and New York with access to armed security personnel.
With an annual membership fee of $129 and a minimum booking cost of $1,000 for a five-hour security detail, Protector markets itself to clients seeking peace of mind in uncertain environments. The app promises to connect users with vetted professionals, many of whom are veterans of law enforcement or the military.
During a discussion on The Roggin Report, panelists debated the potential benefits and risks of such a service. Tammy Bleck expressed concern about safety and vetting processes: “Do we really need random armed individuals showing up? It seems risky.” On the other hand, Stephanie Green argued the service fills a growing need for personal safety in a world where many feel less secure: “If you have the means and concerns, why not use it? These are professionals who know what they’re doing.”
While the concept raises questions about regulation and safety, the company assures that every security professional undergoes extensive background checks. Similar apps, like Black Wolf, already offer armed rideshare services, underscoring a rising demand for personal protection solutions.
Would you use an app to hire an armed guard? As technology continues to transform personal services, convenience and security are now just a click away.
