Shadow Hills Girls Wrestling Makes History as Firebirds Chase Fifth Straight Win
🏆 Shadow Hills Girls Wrestling Team Makes History
It’s a season to remember at Shadow Hills High School as three members of the girls wrestling team head to the state tournament in Bakersfield this Wednesday. Seniors Isabel Navarro and Alyssa Murillo, along with sophomore Melanie Ahumada, are the first trio in school history to qualify in the same season.
“This season’s been really special,” said Navarro. “We started as five-time DEL champs, won CIF for the second time, and qualified three girls at Masters—our best year yet.” Their goal: reach the podium and put the Coachella Valley on the state wrestling map.

🏒 Firebirds Eye Fifth Straight Win
The Coachella Valley Firebirds return to action Wednesday night against the Henderson Silver Knights as they look to extend their four-game winning streak. After being a healthy scratch, forward Jagger Firkus bounced back, scoring in his return to the lineup.
“It’s a great feeling,” Firkus said. “You just want to play with confidence, and my line mates made it easy.”
The Firebirds' upcoming schedule:
📍 Wednesday: @ Henderson Silver Knights
📍 Friday: @ San Diego Gulls
📍 Next Week: Two road games against the Calgary Wranglers
Despite frequent lineup changes, the Firebirds continue to find success, with head coach Derek Lax keeping players ready for the “next man up” mentality.
