Inside the PTSD Dark Comedy “My Dead Friend Zoe”

I quite enjoyed the funny and heartbreaking “My Dead Friend Zoe.”  It tells the story of Merit (Sonequa Martin-Green) and her dead friend Zoe (Natalie Morales), both Afghanistan Army veterans, and their quest to celebrate life.  It is truly my first favorite film of 2025. 

From writer/director Kyle Hausmann-Stokes, the film is a great homage to the sufferings of our heroes.  I spent some time with Hausmann-Stokes, Martin-Green, and Morales for this insightful interview.
