Palm Springs Honors Community Advocates Ola Roberts and Cora Crawford with Plaque Dedication
Today, the city of Palm Springs came together to celebrate the efforts of two remarkable community advocates—Ola Roberts and the late Cora Crawford—during a plaque dedication ceremony at the James O. Jesse Desert Highland Unity Center. The event was a testament to the enduring legacy of both women, who played significant roles in the Desert Highland Gateway neighborhood.
Councilmember Grace Garner, along with other local leaders, took part in the ceremony, honoring the lasting impact Roberts and Crawford had on their community. "It’s such an amazing, heartwarming feeling to finally see all of the recognition," Roberts shared. "Even though she has passed, Cora’s spirit continues to live on in this community, leaving a footprint that others can see and share."
Roberts, who also received recognition, reflected on the importance of community service, saying, "I don’t do a lot of talking about what I’ve done, but I’m thrilled to know people appreciate the work."
The ceremony was followed by light refreshments, graciously provided by the Parks and Recreation Department, as attendees came together to celebrate and share in this moment of appreciation for two women whose efforts continue to shape the future of their community.
