Deadly Crash on Highway 111 in Palm Springs Claims Life of 77-Year-Old Driver
In local news this evening, the Riverside County coroner has confirmed the identity of the woman who tragically lost her life in a two-car crash on Highway 111 in Palm Springs. The victim has been identified as 77-year-old Susan Cobb from Banning.
The accident occurred just before noon on Monday, March 3rd, near Overture Drive, which is located in the Windy Point area of Palm Springs. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the driver of a Ford pickup truck attempted to cross the southbound lanes of Highway 111 when the truck drove directly into the path of Cobb’s Mazda SUV.
Cobb was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center, but despite efforts to save her, she later passed away from the injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Ford pickup truck only suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, though it appears that the collision was caused by the truck’s failure to yield while crossing the highway.
This tragic crash serves as a reminder of the potential dangers on the road and the importance of cautious driving, particularly when crossing busy highways. Our thoughts go out to Susan Cobb’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
