Sacramento Zoo Welcomes Baby Giraffe

It's a girl! The Sacramento Zoo announced the birth of a new giraffe. The mom, Amirah, gave birth on Saturday, and the zoo announced the calf was on her feet within two hours and started nursing shortly after that.

The mother and calf will be given bonding time. The official debut date for the public to see the new calf will depend on the pair's health and welfare. The zoo now has five female Masai giraffes, including the new calf.
