Christin Byrdsong Brings Judas to Life in CV Rep’s Jesus Christ Superstar

Christin Byrdsong, who stars as Judas in CV Rep’s Jesus Christ Superstar, sat down with Desert Entertainment with Tod to discuss his role in the highly anticipated production. Directed by Adam Karsten, this version shifts the focus to Judas’ perspective, exploring his motivations and struggles.

“Judas is often seen as the villain,” Byrdsong said, “but Christianity wouldn’t exist without his betrayal. This show really explores that internal conflict.” Having previously played Jesus in other productions, he noted the similarities between the two characters. “Both are making sacrifices, fighting for what they believe is right,” he added.

Byrdsong praised the production team and cast, calling rehearsals “intense but incredibly rewarding.” He also offered advice to young performers, emphasizing passion and authenticity over applause.
