Cool and Windy Weather Continues in the Coachella Valley, Weekend Warm-Up Ahead
A storm system moving through Southern California is keeping temperatures below normal and winds gusty in the Coachella Valley today. Highs will only reach the mid-60s, with wind gusts surpassing 50 mph in some areas, particularly around the San Gorgonio Pass.
While rainfall totals remain low in the valley, some showers have been recorded to the west:
Whitewater: 0.23 inches
Cabazon: 0.30 inches
Riverside: 0.63 inches
Ontario Airport: 0.75 inches
Los Angeles: 0.50 inches
Most of the valley has remained dry, but a few sprinkles are possible late tonight. Higher elevations continue to see snowfall above 4,000 feet, with a winter storm warning still in effect.
Winds & Air Quality
A wind advisory remains in effect through early Friday morning for the west end of the Coachella Valley, San Gorgonio Pass, high desert, and eastern Riverside County. Gusty conditions have also triggered an air quality alert, lasting through Saturday morning, due to dust and debris in the air.
Weekend Warm-Up
After gusty winds and cool temps today, conditions will gradually improve heading into the weekend:
Friday: Clearing skies, highs in the upper 60s
Saturday: Warmer, upper 70s
Sunday: Sunny and 80 degrees
Looking ahead, rain chances return to Southern California next Tuesday and Thursday.
