Cooler Temps & Gusty Winds Hit the Coachella Valley, Weekend Warm-Up Ahead
Clouds and cooler-than-normal temperatures are dominating the Coachella Valley today, with gusty winds and a small chance of sprinkles lingering in the forecast.
While Southern California has seen measurable rainfall, the Coachella Valley has stayed mostly dry. Areas to the west received higher totals, with Whitewater seeing 0.2 inches and Cabazon recording 0.25 inches. However, most of the valley will see little to no rain accumulation, with only trace amounts possible.
Winds remain gusty, especially through the San Gorgonio Pass, where sustained winds are in the 30 mph range, with gusts exceeding 50 mph. A wind advisory is in effect for the west end of the valley and San Gorgonio Pass into the Inland Empire until just after midnight.
Meanwhile, a winter storm warning remains active for elevations above 4,000 feet, bringing up to 5 inches of additional snow to Snow Summit, Idyllwild, and the tram through early Friday morning.
Despite the chill today, a warm-up is on the way! Highs will gradually climb, reaching the upper 70s by Saturday, and by Sunday, temperatures will hit the low 80s across much of the valley.
