Tesla Fire Causes Hard Lane Closure on Westbound I-10

In more local news this evening, traffic was brought to a standstill on the westbound side of the I-10 after a Tesla caught fire earlier today. The fire, which occurred around 11 a.m., was caused when an object fell off the bed of a pickup truck and was struck by the Tesla. The car quickly caught fire as a result of the collision.

Emergency responders, including firefighters, arrived at the scene shortly after the fire broke out. They worked swiftly to extinguish the flames, and after about 20 minutes, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) implemented a hard closure on the slow lane to allow for emergency personnel to safely manage the situation.

The incident caused significant delays in traffic, as vehicles were forced to move cautiously around the scene. After hours of traffic buildup, CHP confirmed that all lanes were cleared and reopened shortly before 2 p.m., allowing traffic to resume normal flow. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries in the incident.
