Desert Hot Springs Man Arrested for Embezzling Over $300K From Employer

A Desert Hot Springs man has been arrested for allegedly embezzling more than $300,000 from his former employer.

Morongo Basin detectives took 45-year-old Ernesto Ybarra into custody on Wednesday after an extensive investigation. Authorities say Ybarra fraudulently wrote checks from the Mojave Desert Land Trust’s account and deposited them into accounts under fictitious business names.

He now faces multiple felony charges, including embezzlement and money laundering. Investigators believe there may be additional victims in the case and are urging anyone with information to contact the Morongo Basin station.
