Eisenhower Health Expands Toxicology Services to Enhance Critical Patient Care

Eisenhower Health in Rancho Mirage is significantly expanding its toxicology services, solidifying its position as the only hospital in the Coachella Valley with toxicologists on staff. This enhancement means the hospital can now provide round-the-clock care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for critical situations like poisonings, drug overdoses, and chemical exposures. The addition of a third board-certified medical toxicologist enhances the hospital’s capacity to handle life-threatening cases, providing expert care that could often require travel to larger medical centers like UCSD or UCLA.

Dr. Nathan Friedman, part of the toxicology team, emphasized that the hospital’s expanded services could make a life-or-death difference in emergencies. "This is our specialty, and this is our best place to take care of you," Dr. Friedman said. With this expansion, Eisenhower Health can also offer outpatient services for follow-up care, ensuring patients have access to comprehensive treatment beyond emergency situations.
