Rancho Mirage Hosts STEAM Reads Fair to Inspire Young Learners
Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory hosted its second annual STEAM Reads Fair, a vibrant community event focused on inspiring young minds to explore the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). Families from across the Coachella Valley gathered to engage with hands-on activities and educational exhibits, showcasing how STEAM fields are an essential part of everyday life.
The event featured a variety of interactive displays, including a composting process demonstration, where children could learn about sustainability and the environment. Vendors from around the Coachella Valley participated, offering pamphlets and information about careers in STEAM fields, such as firefighting and engineering. The library coordinator, emphasized the importance of incorporating STEAM into children’s learning, noting that "STEAM is in every day, all around us."
The fair's goal was to inspire and educate the next generation, giving children the tools to imagine a future in fields that drive innovation and creativity. With more programs planned for the fall, the Rancho Mirage Library aims to make the STEAM Reads program even bigger and better, continuing to support young learners and encourage curiosity. Families left with a renewed sense of community and a deeper appreciation for the endless possibilities that STEAM careers offer.
