Construction Begins on South Palm Canyon Bridge in Palm Springs

Construction kicks off today on the South Palm Canyon Bridge in Palm Springs, a significant infrastructure project aimed at enhancing pedestrian and cyclist accessibility while incorporating public art elements.

The new 98-foot bridge will replace the existing structure, featuring wider sidewalks, designated bike lanes, and artistic enhancements to complement the surrounding landscape. The project will be completed in two phases, starting with the demolition and reconstruction of the western lanes.

Drivers should expect traffic adjustments as work progresses, with detours and lane reductions in place. Completion is slated for sometime next year.

For a detailed breakdown of traffic impacts and alternate routes, stay tuned—CBC Traffic Manager Chris Gunterson will share essential updates later in the broadcast.
