Rancho Mirage STEAM Reads Fair Inspires Young Minds

Over the weekend, the Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory hosted its second STEAM Reads Fair, an event designed to spark curiosity and inspire children through science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Departments from across the Coachella Valley participated, offering interactive exhibits and hands-on learning experiences for families.

Library coordinator Kayla Weybray emphasized the importance of integrating STEAM into everyday learning, explaining how the event encourages children to explore these subjects through books and real-world applications. From composting demonstrations to meeting professionals in STEAM careers, kids and parents alike had the opportunity to see how science and technology shape the world around them.

Firefighters, engineers, and other professionals shared insights into their careers, showing children how STEAM plays a vital role in various industries. "Educating our kids and community about our jobs is important," one participant shared, "and motivating the next generation is what it’s all about."

The STEAM Reads Fair will return this fall, promising to be "bigger and better than ever." Families interested in learning more about STEAM Reads and other free programs at the Rancho Mirage Library can visit ranchomiragelibrary.org.
