New Rules Allow LGBTQ+ Community Members to Donate Blood, Red Cross Hosts Blood Drive in Palm Springs
The American Red Cross has made an important update to its blood donation rules, allowing members of the LGBTQ+ community to donate blood. This change comes at a critical time, as the organization faces a significant need for donations due to various challenges such as the recent fires in Los Angeles and weather events affecting the nation.
As part of efforts to meet this need, the Red Cross is hosting a blood drive in the Coachella Valley today. The drive, located at the Committee of 25 Club near the O'Donnell Golf Course in Palm Springs, will run until 3 p.m.
The Red Cross urges eligible individuals to come forward and donate blood, stressing the importance of maintaining a steady supply, especially as emergencies and natural disasters continue to affect donation levels. With these new rules, anyone who meets the necessary health criteria can participate, contributing to a life-saving cause.
