The Los Angeles Dodgers locked in their skipper for the long haul, announcing earlier this week that Dave Roberts has signed a four-year, $32 million contract extension. Fresh off their World Series victory over the New York Yankees, the Dodgers saw Roberts’ leadership as essential after capturing their second championship in five years.

The Dodgers continued their strong form today with a 10-4 win over the Cleveland Guardians. Up next, the team heads to Tokyo for a matchup against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, March 18, at 3:10 a.m. PT. Following the overseas opener, the Dodgers will return to Los Angeles for their March 23 home game.

High School Baseball Action Delayed

Locally, the highly anticipated Rancho Mirage vs. Palm Desert high school baseball game was postponed due to rain. Palm Desert’s Zach Gibbs, a former Desert Sun Defensive Player of the Year, was set to take the mound but is still expected to start when the game is played tomorrow—weather permitting.

In the DEL standings, Rancho Mirage (8-1, 2-1) currently holds the top spot, while Palm Desert (4-3, 2-0) sits in second place, making this a pivotal matchup in the league.

Firebirds Face Division Leaders Without Top Scorer

The Coachella Valley Firebirds prepare for a crucial game against the Colorado Eagles tomorrow night at Acrisure Arena. With the Eagles currently leading the Pacific Division, the Firebirds—who hold the second-place slot—are in a must-win situation to strengthen their playoff push.

However, their challenge just got tougher as Seattle Kraken recalled Yanni Neumann on Wednesday. Neumann leads the Firebirds with 26 goals and 41 points in 55 games and ranks third in the entire AHL in goals. If the Firebirds secure a playoff spot, Neumann is expected to return for a potential postseason run.
