Know Before You Go: Major Roadwork in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, and Indio
This week’s Know Before You Go update brings crucial roadwork alerts to keep Coachella Valley drivers moving efficiently.
In Palm Springs, Caltrans continues its Highway 111 restoration project, now switching to night work along Palm Canyon, Vistachino, and Gene Autry. Drivers should avoid these areas during overnight hours. Additionally, the South Palm Canyon Bridge project is underway and will last for about a year. Currently, one lane remains open in each direction on the east side, while work progresses on the west side. Alternative routes include Bilardo Road via Sunny Dunes or Mesquite.
In Cathedral City, expect temporary signal disruptions at Date Palm Drive and East Palm Canyon on Monday and Tuesday, as crews replace signal poles and prepare for the opening of a new shopping center driveway.
Over in Indio, the ongoing slurry seal project continues, with Monroe and Avenue 41 under red flash signals with stop signs in place.
Driving tip of the week: Drive the speed limit! Traffic signals are synchronized, so racing ahead won’t save time and can create congestion.
