Wind Advisory in Effect for Parts of Coachella Valley as System Moves Through
Gusty winds are sweeping through parts of the Coachella Valley, prompting a wind advisory through Tuesday at 11 a.m. While areas like Rancho Mirage are escaping the brunt of the winds, locations such as Indian Canyon, Gene Autry, and Palm Drive into Desert Hot Springs are experiencing strong gusts that will persist into Tuesday morning.
Monday’s high reached 82 degrees, aligning with seasonal averages, but temperatures are now cooling, with overnight lows dropping into the low 50s across the valley. Desert Hot Springs is currently at 67 degrees, while Yucca Valley has dipped to 57 degrees.
The quick-moving system bringing these winds is also delivering some light rain to areas north of the valley, including Whitewater, Banning, and the San Gorgonio Pass. Rainfall totals are expected to remain minimal, with under a quarter of an inch projected for mountain communities.
Looking ahead, high pressure returns on Wednesday, kicking off a warming trend. Temperatures will rise steadily through the week, with highs reaching the upper 90s by next Monday. Breezy conditions will persist at times, but overall, calmer weather is expected later in the week.
