David Hockney Exhibition and Children's Workshop Inspire Creativity in Palm Springs
The Palm Springs Art Museum is currently showcasing "David Hockney: Perspective Should Be Reversed," an expansive exhibition featuring nearly 200 works by the acclaimed British artist. This collection, drawn from the holdings of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, spans six decades of Hockney's prolific career and includes prints, collages, photographs, and digital drawings created on iPhones and iPads.
To engage the younger community and foster a love for art, the museum organized a series of free workshops titled "Hockney Plus You." These sessions invited children of all ages to explore Hockney's bold and colorful style through hands-on painting and art activities. The final workshop in this series took place recently at Downtown Park in Palm Springs, running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families attending the event also enjoyed complimentary admission to the Palm Springs Art Museum as part of Family Day, which featured creative activities suitable for all ages.
Jordan D. Schnitzer, recognized as one of the world's top 200 art collectors, sponsored both the exhibition and the accompanying workshops. His foundation aims to enrich children's creative experiences by providing access to renowned artworks and interactive art-making opportunities. Schnitzer's involvement underscores a commitment to community engagement and the promotion of art education among youth.
The "David Hockney: Perspective Should Be Reversed" exhibition will remain on display at the Palm Springs Art Museum through March 31, 2025. This extensive showcase offers visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Hockney's innovative approaches to perspective and his exploration of identity, making it a significant cultural event in the Coachella Valley.
