Amdocs Film Festival highlights student interns and their work
PALM SPRINGS – The Amdocs Film Festival is returning to the Coachella Valley next week, celebrating the art of animated and documentary filmmaking along with independent filmmakers from around the world. The festival, held at the Palm Springs Cultural Center, promises an exciting lineup of films and events for cinephiles and the community.
A unique aspect of the festival is its reliance on student interns who assist with operations and play an essential role behind the scenes. Henley Hemstreet, a student intern, is not only helping manage the festival’s social media but also has her own work featured in the festival's student film program.
Henley shared her experience, saying, "My favorite part is how hands-on I get to be. As a student, a lot of times adults don't really want you to be hands-on because they want to control it, but I really love how the adults at this festival let me have free reign and give me guidance."
Her short film explores how religion shapes personal growth through the stories of two women—one Jewish and one Catholic—highlighting the intersecting life lessons from their faiths.
For those eager to experience Henley’s film and the festival’s other selections, NBC Palm Springs is giving away three-day passes. To enter, visit NBCPalmSprings.com, click on the "cool" page, and submit your entry.
