Dry Weather Pattern to Persist Through the Weekend and Beyond
Southern California is in for a warm and dry spell as temperatures climb steadily over the coming days. Yesterday, the region enjoyed near-normal temperatures with a high of 83 degrees, and today, temperatures will edge slightly higher. Current readings include 55°F at Big Bear, 77°F in Desert Hot Springs, 83°F in Thousand Palms, and 69°F at Banning, with winds under 10 mph posing no concerns.
Clear skies are forecasted through the weekend, with no rain in sight. The Pacific Northwest will receive the bulk of the weather system moving eastward, keeping Southern California dry. Highs today will range from 86°F in Indio to 88°F in Palm Desert, with clear skies tonight and lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
The weekend will see similar conditions, with highs around 89°F in Palm Springs and 88°F in Indio on Saturday and approaching 90°F on Sunday. Looking ahead, a high-pressure system will settle over the region by early next week, pushing temperatures into record territory.
Monday and Tuesday will bring some of the hottest days of the year, with forecasts predicting highs between 94°F and 98°F, and Palm Springs and Indio could reach 97°F on Tuesday—matching historical record highs set in 1988. Thermal may even flirt with the 100-degree mark.
Winds will remain light for most of the period, picking up slightly late Saturday but staying well below advisory levels. Relative humidity will stay low, between 10% and 15%, maintaining dry conditions across the Coachella Valley and surrounding areas. Rain chances for the next seven days are virtually nonexistent.
As temperatures peak early next week, residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against heat-related illnesses. Temperatures are expected to ease slightly by midweek, providing some relief by Thursday and beyond.
