David Genat Wins Record $5.8M on ‘Deal or No Deal Island’ Season Finale
NBC’s Deal or No Deal Island wrapped its second season with a dramatic finale Tuesday night, awarding the largest single cash prize in American television history to contestant David Genat — a stunning $5.8 million.
Jenea faced an intense final round, beginning with 26 cases — one containing a jackpot of $12,232,001. His task: eliminate the wrong ones and either hold out for the top prize or take a buyout from the show’s banker, played by Chrissy Teigen.
At several points, Jenea shocked viewers and former competitors by rejecting enormous offers, including one for $3.8 million.
“I just don’t think they believed I would keep turning it down,” Jenea said. “But I really felt spiritually led.”
With just two cases remaining — one holding $12 million and the other $75 — Teigen made one final plea with a $5.8 million offer. This time, Jenea said Deal.
The decision paid off in a major way. His chosen case contained just $75, meaning had he passed, he would have walked away nearly empty-handed.
Now, Jenea plans to celebrate by buying a new motorcycle, a luxury watch, and a few cars for his four kids. “I fully feel like I’m floating,” he said. “My frequency is on another level.”
It’s a record-breaking moment for NBC and a life-changing one for Jenea — all thanks to the best deal he ever made.
