Border Patrol Removed from Coachella Valley High Career Fair, District Issues Apology
A surprising incident at Coachella Valley High School has sparked district-wide attention after Border Patrol agents were asked to leave a career fair on campus.
The removal happened Wednesday, and the agents say they were not provided a reason for being escorted out by the school principal. That night, the U.S. Border Patrol’s El Centro Sector shared a message on Facebook expressing concern and suggesting the school may have an “extremist agenda.”
In response, the Coachella Valley Unified School District issued an official statement apologizing to Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino. The district called the incident a misunderstanding and confirmed that disciplinary action has been taken against the staff members involved.
The letter further emphasized that Border Patrol is “wholeheartedly welcome” at future career fairs and that steps have been taken to ensure such an incident doesn't happen again.
NBC Palm Springs' Antonio Marquez is speaking with El Centro Border Patrol agents today. Watch for his full report on NBC Palm Springs at 5 and 6 p.m. We will cover this on "The Roggin Report" also will a full break down of the events.
