Mecca Fire 92% Contained; Evacuations Lifted

The blaze started around 11 a.m. near the intersection of Lincoln Street and 67th Avenue. According to the latest updates, firefighters have now contained 92% of the fire, which burned roughly 13 acres.

Firefighters on the scene detailed their efforts, noting the challenges posed by the limited number of fire hydrants in the area. This shortage required a strategic water shuttle, with water tenders supplementing the efforts of the 19 fire engines on duty. Additionally, a bulldozer was deployed to assist in the firefighting process. In total, 68 personnel were actively working on containing the blaze.
