Palm Springs Band Headed to Rome

Excitement is in the air at Palm Springs High School.
On Wednesday, the Spirit of the Sands Marching Band got a surprise they’ll never forget.
The band was officially invited to perform in Rome’s prestigious New Year celebration.
The announcement caught the students completely off guard — and their reactions said it all.
They’ll be spending an entire week in Italy, ringing in the new year in spectacular fashion.
Their performance will be part of a world-renowned parade in the heart of Rome.
Beyond the music, students will have a chance to explore the city’s rich history and culture.
From the Colosseum to the Vatican, it’s a trip of a lifetime.
The event is sponsored by the Morality of Rome, an organization that honors cultural and artistic excellence.
Their performance will also be streamed globally, allowing viewers from around the world to tune in.
Here in the U.S., PBS will air the highlights for audiences to enjoy.
Also joining in the New Year festivities will be the Palm Springs High School March of Flags.
