Palm Springs Nissan GM Urges Buyers to Act Fast as Tariffs Drive Up Vehicle Prices
In a recent interview with NBC Palm Springs, Brett Rosen spoke with Majid Mansour, the general manager at Palm Springs Nissan, who expressed his surprise at the unprecedented impact of the new tariffs on vehicle prices. “In my 15 years as a general manager, I’ve never seen tariffs like this,” Mansour noted, highlighting the significant changes unfolding in the automotive market.
According to financial estimates from Goldman Sachs, the tariffs could add between $5,000 and $15,000 to the cost of a foreign-made vehicle, while U.S.-assembled cars that rely on imported parts might see increases of $3,000 to $8,000. Mansour explained that while not every vehicle will be affected, buyers who delay their purchase could end up facing these higher costs.
“There’s a simple plan,” Mansour said. “If you want to avoid the increasing costs, if you’re looking to buy anytime soon, do it now. The good news is, the inventory that's currently on our lot is not affected anymore—it’s tariff-free. Anything coming in after today will be subject to as much as a 25% tariff.”
To help ease the impact on consumers, Palm Springs Nissan is already in discussions with the manufacturer about potential price adjustments on incoming vehicles. This proactive measure is aimed at offsetting some of the additional costs for buyers.
For consumers in the market for a new vehicle, the message from Palm Springs Nissan is clear: consider speeding up your purchase decision to avoid the looming price hikes caused by the new tariffs.
