Pantry To The People
NBC Palm Springs, Sunline Transit Agency, and Albertsons are coming together for a special event that invites the community to help those in need. The event, titled Pantry to the People, is being held at Albertsons stores in Palm Desert and Palm Springs, with all donations going to support the Find Food Bank and The Center Community Food Bank in Palm Springs. This collaborative effort aims to gather non-perishable food and supplies to assist families across the Coachella Valley. The event, which began at 7 a.m. this morning, is running until 7 p.m. today. NBC Palm Springs has team coverage at both locations.
Reporter Brett Rosen spoke with one representative from Find Food Bank, "For the Fine Food Bank, this event is crucial," one of the organizers said. "With rising costs and budget cuts, we’re relying more than ever on community support to meet the needs of those struggling with food insecurity. The donations from today will help feed 125,000 people a month."
The Fine Food Bank partners with over 100 organizations, including local homeless shelters, community pantries, and soup kitchens, to ensure that food reaches those who need it most. "It’s all about the community helping each other," the organizer continued. "We don’t want anyone to go without food. It’s a simple but powerful way we can all contribute."
The Pantry to the People event is a prime example of how simple actions can make a significant impact. By donating non-perishable food and household items, the community can help provide for neighbors in need across the Coachella Valley. The event has already made a huge difference.
