Congressman Raul Ruiz Hosts Town Hall Meeting At Indio High School
Congressman Raul Ruiz is set to speak with local residents this evening during a town hall meeting hosted at Indio High School. The event, which begins in less than 30 minutes, offers community members the opportunity to raise concerns, ask questions, and engage directly with their representative.
Ruiz, who also held a similar event in Beaumont yesterday, emphasized the importance of staying connected with constituents—especially during what he described as a “tumultuous time” in the country’s political climate.
“This is a good opportunity to have a conversation with my constituents, to listen to what concerns them, their hopes, their aspirations, and their anxieties,” Ruiz said.
Key topics expected to be addressed during the meeting include the protection of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans' benefits, and the privacy and security of personal data handled by federal agencies like the IRS and Social Security Department. Ruiz expressed that his recent town hall in Beaumont left many attendees feeling empowered and more informed about how they can make their voices heard. “A community empowered to really work within our government’s Constitution—that’s what we saw,” he said.
This event is part of a broader tour of town hall meetings across the region. Following tonight’s gathering in Indio, Ruiz plans to hold another in El Centro on Monday, continuing his outreach and dialogue with Southern California constituents. For more information tune into NBC Palm Springs.
