Eisenhower Health Unveils Daisy Award Statue and Garden to Honor Nurses on Final Day of National Nurse Appreciation Week
As National Nurse Appreciation Week comes to a close, Eisenhower Health in Rancho Mirage has created a lasting tribute to its nurses and caregivers with the unveiling of a replica Daisy Award statue and the dedication of a new Daisy Garden.
The statue—a large version of The Healer’s Touch, sculpted by a Shona artist from Zimbabwe—represents the global recognition given to Daisy Award winners for their extraordinary compassion and care. The Daisy Foundation, which sponsors the award, honors nurses around the world who make a meaningful difference in patient lives.
Ben Farber, Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer at Eisenhower Health, led today’s ceremony and shared the intention behind the project.
"We just dedicated the garden to honor our Daisy nurses and all caregivers," said Farber. "It’s meant to be a quiet respite, a place to sit after a hard day, and a way to reflect on the impact of their work."
The Daisy Garden offers a beautifully landscaped setting where both staff and visitors can pause, reflect, and recharge. Nurses in attendance expressed heartfelt appreciation for the recognition, describing the tribute as both emotional and uplifting.
“As a bedside nurse myself, it’s incredibly meaningful to feel seen and supported by our leadership,” one nurse shared.
The new garden and statue underscore Eisenhower Health’s ongoing commitment to supporting its care teams—not only through words of gratitude, but with physical spaces that promote healing and wellbeing.
For many, it’s more than a monument. It’s a daily reminder of the lives they touch and the support they deserve.
