DHS To Terminate Legal Status For Migrant Group
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is terminating the legal status of hundreds of thousands of migrants. DHS is expected to email termination notices to certain migrant groups that live and work in the United states. The document tells recipients they could be subject to immigration enforcement if they don't leave the country. The notices will be addressed to Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans who came to the U.S. through the Biden administration's humanitarian parole program. Work permits tied to that program will also be revoked. Migrants would have to return permits to U.S. citizenship and immigration services. President Donald Trump on inauguration day signed an order seeking to end the Biden-era parole program. The move sparked legal challenges but the Supreme Court allowed the president to strip protections for those in the program.
