Two Firefighters Killed in Idaho Ambush; Suspect Set Fire to Lure Responders

A solemn procession took place in North Idaho for two firefighters killed in an ambush shooting on Sunday. Dozens gathered along the mountain passes to pay their respects to the fallen first responders, whose lives were taken in a shocking act of violence.

Authorities say the suspect, 20-year-old Wes Val Roley, intentionally set a brush fire to lure firefighters to the scene. When first responders arrived, Roley opened fire, fatally shooting two of them. A third firefighter was also shot but is recovering in the hospital. Officials report that firefighter is in stable condition.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, but police say Roley had previously expressed a desire to become a firefighter himself.

The community is reeling from the loss, and tributes are pouring in for the two firefighters who lost their lives while trying to protect others.
