Cathedral City Adds Fourth Fully Staffed Ambulance to Boost Emergency Response

Cathedral City Fire and EMS has officially launched its fourth fully staffed ambulance, a major step forward in improving emergency services throughout the city.

The new unit was made possible through Measure W funding and is expected to significantly reduce response times while expanding coverage across Cathedral City.

Fire Chief Michael Contreras called the addition a "promise kept" to the community. He noted that the department has also been strengthened through new hires, promotions, and key strategic investments—all aimed at raising the bar for public safety.

“We’re building momentum,” said Contreras, referencing the department’s recent successes, including rescue operations during Tropical Storm Hilary and progress toward state accreditation.

Officials say this new ambulance is not just about faster care—it's about reinforcing the city's commitment to safety, preparedness, and reliable emergency support for every resident.
