Manny the Movie Guy Reviews ‘Freakier Friday,’ ‘Weapons,’ and ‘Wednesday’ Season 2

The Agua Caliente Entertainment Report, brought to you by Agua Caliente Casinos, is packed with new releases this weekend as Manny the Movie Guy shares his take on what’s worth watching in theaters and on streaming.

First up, “Freakier Friday” reunites Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis 23 years after the original, this time with an added twist: Lohan swaps bodies with her daughter Harper, while Curtis swaps with her soon-to-be step-granddaughter. Manny praises the cast for elevating the heartfelt sequel, calling it “not just freakier, but funnier,” and giving it three out of four kisses for its humor and message about family and empathy.

In theaters, “Weapons” delivers a chilling and smart horror experience from “Barbarian” director Zack Krager. The film, styled like a twisted fairy tale, follows the mystery of 17 missing children, told in multiple vignettes from different character perspectives. Starring Josh Brolin and Julia Garner, the movie takes risks, mixes scares with emotional depth, and earns three and a half out of four kisses from Manny.

On Netflix, “Wednesday” returns for its highly anticipated second season. Jenna Ortega once again shines in the title role, with the story diving deeper into the rift between Morticia and Wednesday. Manny calls it “wickedly, woefully wonderful” and gives it a perfect four out of four kisses. The only downside? Netflix released just four episodes, with the rest arriving September 3.
