Two Trucks Catch Fire at Pilot Flying J Truck Stop in Thousand Palms

Fire crews rushed to the Pilot Flying J Truck Stop on Varner Road in Thousand Palms after two trucks caught fire Thursday afternoon.

According to Cal Fire, the call came in at approximately 1:06 p.m. Crews arrived to find both vehicles burning in the truck lot area. Six engines responded to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading.

Officials confirmed there was no fire inside the Pilot Flying J store. Firefighters were able to quickly control the flames, keeping them confined to the trucks.

No injuries have been reported, and Cal Fire personnel remain at the scene for overhaul and investigation. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Motorists traveling near the I-10 corridor in Thousand Palms experienced temporary traffic slowdowns as emergency crews worked the scene.

Cal Fire continues to investigate the incident.
