Four Suspects Arrested After Fatal Shooting on Quail Avenue in Indio

Four suspects are now in custody following a fatal shooting in Indio, where officers responded to the 83000 block of Quail Avenue last Thursday. Police say the shooting happened when four men inside a small SUV asked the victim and another adult male to approach the vehicle. Moments later, shots were fired.

According to investigators, the second adult male and three children who were nearby ran from the gunfire and were not injured. The victim was struck by the shots and died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.

Three suspects were taken into custody in Desert Hot Springs last week after a brief pursuit. They include 19-year-old Zachary Ashtong Hamrick, 20-year-old George Anthony Diaz, and 20-year-old Christian Espinoza. A fourth suspect, 19-year-old Jonathan Rios Franco, was arrested the following day in the city of Banning. All four men face charges that include murder, attempted murder, and accessory.

The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the motive and gather additional details. Police are expected to release more information as it becomes available.
