Fresh Snowmaking Brightens Big Bear Mountain Resorts as Terrain Expansion Continues Ahead of Weekend

Winter conditions are starting to take shape in the San Bernardino Mountains as snowmaking operations continue at Big Bear Mountain Resort. Resort officials say temperatures and weather conditions at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit have remained favorable over the last several days, allowing crews to lay down additional snow across key areas of the mountain.
The latest snowmaking efforts have already made a visible impact. Video and photos shot today show noticeably whiter slopes compared to earlier in the week, offering an encouraging sign for skiers and snowboarders eager for the season to build momentum. All video and images were provided by Big Bear Mountain Resort.
With cooler overnight temperatures forecast heading into the weekend, resort crews plan to continue expanding terrain as conditions allow. Resort officials caution that it is still early in the season, and guests should expect limited terrain options while snow coverage continues to develop.
In addition to snowmaking updates, the resort is reminding guests of several on-mountain amenities designed to make visits smoother and more comfortable. Free WiFi is available throughout the resort; guests can connect to BBMRPublic and accept the terms and conditions to get online.
Designated guest drop-off zones are available at each mountain, making it easier to load and unload gear. Drivers are asked to use hazard lights and follow posted orange parking signs. ADA-accessible parking is located in the upper lots at each resort, with DMV-issued markers required to avoid delays.
For equipment needs, tuning and repair services are available on-site at Snow Valley, Snow Summit, and Bear Mountain, along with free tool benches for quick adjustments. Locker rentals are offered on a first-come, first-served basis at all three mountains, with seasonal lockers available online at Snow Summit and Bear Mountain.
Guests can also take advantage of ski and snowboard rental delivery near Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, with pass holders receiving a discount. While on-site child care is not offered, group and private lessons for children are available through the resort’s winter programs. Sports shops at the base areas remain stocked with gear, apparel, and resort-branded merchandise, with locations at Snow Valley and Snow Summit open year-round and Bear Mountain open during winter only.
As snowmaking continues and colder temperatures move in, resort officials say conditions will be closely monitored as they work toward opening additional terrain.
