DOJ Documents Reveal Palm Springs Businessman Had Contact with Jeffrey Epstein After 2008 Conviction
Newly unveiled Department of Justice records show a Palm Springs businessman had contact with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein years after his child prostitution conviction.
The documents reveal that Peter Mahler, who operates a local staffing company, exchanged messages with Epstein in 2013—five years after Epstein's 2008 conviction. According to the records, Mahler allegedly helped recruit potential employees for Epstein during that time.
Authorities say Mahler has not been accused of any wrongdoing, and there's no indication that anyone he recruited became an Epstein victim.
In a statement to NBC Palm Springs, Mahler acknowledged his firm conducted staffing searches for Epstein but said those efforts "ultimately failed because he did not like the qualified candidates we identified for him to interview."
"The revelations about Jeffrey Epstein are abhorrent," Mahler said. "Knowing what we know now, we would never have worked with him under any circumstances."
Mahler said his firm was searching for professional administrative staff and property management positions for Epstein at the time.
