Palm Springs Air Museum Gala Honors Vietnam War Veterans on 50th Anniversary

The Palm Springs Air Museum hosted its annual fundraising gala, honoring military service members and commemorating the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.

This year marks the 29th anniversary of the gala, which carries the theme “Honoring Character — Remembering Courage: Fifty Years — Vietnam.” Nine Vietnam War veterans were recognized during the evening, including a Medal of Honor recipient and a lifetime achievement awardee.

A special highlight of the event was the return of America’s Freedom Tribute’s traveling replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall — an 80 percent scale reproduction of the Wall in Washington, D.C.

The gala featured hosted cocktails and appetizers, a gourmet dinner, and live entertainment.

Proceeds from the event will support the museum’s educational programs for youth across the Coachella Valley.

Museum officials say the event provides the community with a unique opportunity to honor real heroes while supporting important educational initiatives and preserving the legacy of those who served during the Vietnam War.
