Kaftan Party Brings Palm Springs Chic to Modernism Week

Flowing fabrics, bold prints and sparkling accessories took center stage at the Kaftan Party Contest during Modernism Week.

The themed celebration was held at the Hyatt Palm Springs and hosted by local icon and drag queen Bella da Ball. Festivities began at 2:30 p.m., featuring a lively fashion show where guests competed for prizes honoring the most creative and stylish looks.

Attendees enjoyed complimentary hors d'oeuvres along with cocktails and wine as participants showcased caftans adorned with bold prints, sequins, and statement jewelry. Organizers describe the contest as the epitome of Palm Springs chic — a vibrant celebration of retro glamour and self-expression.

Bella da Ball is also hosting another free themed event next week: a tiki party set for Friday the 20th at 2:30 p.m. at the Hyatt. Guests are encouraged to embrace the tropical theme with playful accessories, grass skirts, coconut bras, and oversized sunglasses.
