Palm Springs Convention Center hosts 26th Annual Modernism Show during Modernism Week

Alongside tours of historic midcentury modern homes, design lovers can also experience one of Modernism Week’s biggest attractions — the 26th Annual Palm Springs Modernism Show at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

The show brings together 130 national and international exhibitors, all under one roof, showcasing a wide range of midcentury and contemporary modern design. From furniture and lighting to art and decorative pieces, the exhibition highlights the lasting influence of modernist style.

Artists and designers from across the region and beyond are presenting their work, including Jason Potter with Den Los Angeles and Joshua Tree artist LA Marler. Both say the show offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with others who share a passion for architecture and design.

“Being around people that care about design and architecture really, really helps,” one exhibitor said. “It’s good speaking to people that are into it as well.”

For many attendees, the appeal of modernism goes beyond aesthetics. Exhibitors say nostalgia plays an important role in the movement’s continued popularity.

“It is a beautiful design,” another artist explained, “but the nostalgia plays a large part in it. It was a quieter, simpler, more peaceful time — and reminiscing about the good old days is part of the feel-goodness of it.”

The Palm Springs Modernism Show runs through Monday, February 16th at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
