Coachella Valley Road Updates: Week of February 17
Indio Boulevard at Jefferson Street continues to see lane closures as road improvement work moves forward. CV Sync program manager Kris Gunterson says drivers have settled into detour patterns, but congestion remains heavy. Your best bet: take Monroe or Washington to reach the freeway, and merge early to keep traffic flowing. For east-west travel, skip Avenue 42 and use Fred Waring or Highway 111 instead.
In La Quinta, crews are repaving Adams Street in sections, working from the outside lanes inward. This week, work runs from Miles Avenue down to Corporate Center—expect delays near La Quinta High School at Black Hawk Way. Crews will try to keep lanes open during school drop-off and pickup, but Gunterson recommends using Dune Palms or Washington Street as alternates if possible.
Looking ahead: The BNP Paribas Open begins March 1st at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Heavy traffic is expected on southbound Washington and Highway 111 near Miles Avenue. CV Sync will share specific times to avoid in next week's update. Also note: Indian Canyon remains closed due to rain—use Vista Chino or Gene Autry as alternates.
